Responsibilities of the Candidate:

AMD is seeking an engineer to join their Server CPU software development team for an exciting internship opportunity. The selected candidate will be an integral part of a core team, working with cutting-edge hardware and software technologies. They will collaborate closely with AMD’s technical experts to ensure optimal performance and outcomes on AMD platforms.

The ideal candidate for this position will engage with software and hardware technologists across various locations. This internship offers a valuable chance to contribute to a highly respected team and deliver innovative solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Troubleshoot issues across multiple software layers (user space, kernel, applications, libraries) and hardware.
  2. Optimize and develop the CPU performance stack (applications, libraries) for AMD server processors.
  3. Identify and resolve performance and scalability bottlenecks in multi-core, multi-node deployments.
  4. Drive innovation, publish papers, file patents, and participate in technical conferences to advance AMD technologies.
  5. Continuously learn and adapt to evolving X86 server CPU architecture and application landscape.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

The ideal candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  1. Strong proficiency in data structures and algorithms.
  2. Demonstrated expertise in C/C++ programming and debugging.
  3. Understanding of Cache sub-system, Instruction Set Architecture, and pipeline (for any CPU).
  4. Bonus skills: Experience with Intel MKL libraries, Linear Algebra, FFT, x86 assembly programming, x86 (or other architecture-based) optimizations, CPU Profiling tools.
  5. Solid comprehension of performance bottlenecks.
  6. Ability to quickly acquire new skills and drive the achievement of business objectives.
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
